Gabi Carrubba, Season 11

Meet Hollywood bound Gabrielle “Gabi” Carrubba

2

Full name: Gabrielle Nicole Carrubba, but she goes by “Gabi.”

And since it looks as though Idol wants to go young again in Season 11, you have to like this 16-year-old’s chance of doing well after an impressive rendition of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” earned her a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Even at such a young age, she’s apparently been performing for a long time.  In her pre-performance interview, she described herself as a champion tap dancer who was a member of the Diaper Dancers at age 1.  Hey, that’s what she said.

What the gal from North Haven, Conn., didn’t mention is that she has also performed as in a Broadway production of “Annie” at Madison Square Garden.

Oh, and she won the American Idol Experience at Disney in 2009 when she was only 14. Which meant she was too young to cash in on her dream ticket to audition.

But two years later, there she was at the Savannah auditions, impressing the judges with the control she demonstrated in her performance. Equally impressive was her poise.

Said Randy: “You were born to do this.”

Here are a couple of Gabi’s pre-Idol performances.

“New York State of Mind”

“Out Here on My Own”
