Jamier Jones of American Idol Season 23

Jamier Jones is among the artists who auditioned for Season 23 of American Idol.

American Idol returned Sunday, March 9 with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returning as judges. They were joined by Carrie Underwood, who replaced Katy Perry.

Audition episodes will continue to air each Sunday on ABC until Hollywood Week begins.

Here’s more about Jamier.

* He’s a talented young singer from Buffalo who’s sure to impress with his silky smooth and seemingly effortless vocals.

* He posted his virtual audition to TikTok, a cover of Teddy Swimm’s “I Lose Control.” That video now how about 700,000 views on the site.

* Jamier also went viral with his cover of Johnnie Taylor’s 1990s classic “Last Two Dollars.” That cover has more than 150,000 streams on the site.

* In fact, Jamier already has more than 10,000 followers and nearly 200,000 likes on his TikTok.

* He also impresses with his versatility, covering artists ranging from Whitney Houston to Chris Brown to Plain White Tees. Check out his cover of “Hey There Delilah” — billed as “Hey There Delilah Meets R&B — below.

* TV Line has released a snippet of Jamier, showing off his deep, soulful vocals for the judges in what is almost certainly a golden ticket performance.

* He also sang “Lose Control” at that audition, delivering what Lionel Richie describes as “the longest run I’ve ever heard in my whole life.”
