Skylar LaineRemember Skylar Laine, the sassy country singer from Season 11 of American Idol?

Well, she released her debut EP today.

The seven-track effort is called “Dirt Covered Lace” and went on sale at midnight on iTunes.

Skylar, now 21, helped fund the EP through a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $8,000.

One song, “Night on Fire,” was already available for download and is certainly a highlight of the EP.

But it sounds like SKylar’s time since Idol has been well spent honing her sound.

Other standout tracks include the defiant “Ashes Can’t Burn Me,” a catchy up-tempo tune called “Settle Down,” and the title track.

Skylar finished fifth back in Season 11 and has since moved from her home in Brandon, Mississippi, to Nashville.

Since Idol, she’s gotten to perform with Justin Moore a few times and said he gave her a lot of good advice.

“He told me that he was in Nashville for seven years before he finally got a bite,” she says in an interview you can read here. “He told me not to give up, and even if I have to do something else to make money, that’s fine — just don’t give up on my dream.”

You can keep up with Skylar on her website. On Twitter she is @Skylar_Laine.
