Four female country singers remain on Season 9 of The Voice after the battle round.

And all four were featured in Tuesday night’s final battle round episode.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see or hear Summer Schappell’s Team Gwen battle round match against Hanna Ashbrook.

But Summer talked about their performance of The Wrecker’s “Leave the Pieces” during a Wednesday conference call with the media.

think a lot of people thought that because it was more of a country song and more in my wheelhouse, I had an edge,” Summer, 21, of Redding, Calif., said. “But Hanna actually has this way with making a song her own, and she’s an indie artist so she made it sound incredible.

“I was so nervous singing with her. She brought so much to the table and it really did freak me out. And I think we really, really kicked some butt on that song and I wish you all could have seen it.”

When the singing ended, Gwen selected Summer to advance to the knockout round. Hanna, 24, of Mount Prospect, Ill., was eliminated when she was not stolen.

Summer said she believes both she and Hanna followed through on Gwen’s advice to find a way to connect to the song and did really well.

But Summer has been performing and pursuing a music career since age 14. “I think my confidence showed more on stage and i think that’s why Gwen chose me,” she said.
