The original American Idol can add a CMA to her list of accomplishments.

Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t You Want to Stay” duet with Jason Aldean won the award for Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards Wednesday night.

It was the only award taken home by a former Idol contestant during the evening.

Carrie Underwood was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, but that honor went to Miranda Lambert.

“Don’t You Want to Stay” — a bonus track on the deluxe version of Kelly’s new “Stronger” album — was also nominated for Single of the Year.  That went to The Band Perry’s smash hit “If I Die Young.”

The other big winners were Taylor Swift, named Entertainer of the Year, and Blake Shelton, named Male Vocalist of the Year.

But if Idols didn’t haul in a lot of awards, they were front and center during the evening.

Carrie co-hosted again with Brad Paisley, and they performed their number one country duet, “Remind Me.”

Scotty McCreery, the reigning American Idol, took the stage to perform “Walk in the Country.”

And Lauren Alaina and Kellie Pickler were on hand to help present awards.
