The Voice eliminates four, including Caroline Glaser

Going head to head with American Idol Wednesday night, The Voice announced the 12 finalists advancing to the next round of Season 4.

None of the results were exactly shockers, but the show wisely saved the most difficult decision for last.

That would be Adam Levine’s decision to eliminate Caroline Glaser from the competition.

Entering this week, 16 singers remained on The Voice, four per team.

On Wednesday, the two singers who got the most votes on each team advanced, as well as one of the two remaining singers their coach decided to “save.”

On Team Adam, Amber Carrington and Judith Hill advanced based on fan voting, leaving Adam to chose between Sarah Simmons and Caroline.

He decided to keep Sarah in the competition, marking the end of the road for Caroline, a singer-songwriter from St. Louis who was 19 at the time of her blind audition.

On any other team, Caroline likely would have survived Wednesday’s cut.

Her performance of “The A Team” Monday night ranked fourth among eight Voice performances on iTunes 24 hours after the show.

In fact, all four of her Voice performances were among the top 200 singles on iTunes, making her the only Voice singer to accomplish that this week.

But when she was picked up by Adam after the battle round, she landed on a team alongside one of the most surprising Season 4 performers on The Voice (Amber) and alongside two singers (Judith and Sarah) who turned all four chairs with their blind auditions.

What happened on the other teams Wednesday? Here’s the rundown.

Team Blake: Holly Tucker and Danielle Bradbery were saved by voters. Blake, for the sake of diversity, decided to save The Swon Brothers, meaning Justin Rivers was eliminated.

Team Shakira: Sasha Allen and Kris Thomas were saved by voters. Shakira, because she thinks she can teach him the most, saved Garrett Gardner, meaning Karina Iglesias left the show.

Team Usher: Michelle Chamuel and Vedo were saved by the voters. Usher, without explanation, kept Josiah Hawley, eliminating Cathia from the competition.

Check back this weekend. I’ll be ranking the remaining 12 singers on The Voice.
