After American Idol

Three years after Idol, Kree Harrison releases debut single

years after her run on American Idol, Kree Harrison has released her first post-show single.

The song is called “This Old Thing,” and it’s available on iTunes.

Judging from photos Kree posted on her Facebook page, a video for the song will soon follow.

It’s the first release from her upcoming debut album, being released though Plaid Flag Music.

There’s no album release date yet, but Rolling Stone Country reports that Kree wrote or co-wrote nine of the 13 songs on the album.

“This Old Thing” was co-written by Amanda and Tyler Wilkinson and Benjamin Lazar Davis.

Kree finished second to Candice Glover on Season 12 of American Idol. But she was also the first Idol runner-up not to release a record through 19 Entertainment.

Her new album was recorded at the Echo Mountain Recording Studio in Asheville, N.C., with Benjy Davis and Jordan Lehning as producers, according to a press release about the project.

Says Kree in that release: “After years of living in Nashville, being inspired, learning, trying to figure out my own journey, I’m proud to say, I know now I’ve made the record when and how I was supposed to.”

The album is scheduled for a mid-2016 release, but the label hasn’t announced a precise date.
