Former Voice contestants Marisa Corvo, Kata Hay and Mia Z have new music out

Catching up on new music from contestants fans met on The Voice.

Marisa Corvo from Season 19 has a pair of new songs out — the rocking “Never Again” and “Which Was It.” It marks the first original music she’s released in three years and she admits that, at one point, she thought she was through releasing new music and would just focus on performing. Fans convinced her to change those plans. Marisa says she now has a backlog of original songs she plans to release two at a time, like the old days when singers would release a single with a new B-side song.

Mia Z from Season 8 has a new song out called “Time.” It’s one she’s dedicated to her grandfather John Zanotti, who passed away four years ago this month. And she got permission to shoot the music video on the hillside of the house he lived in, “where 100 years of Zanotti history was made.” Mia has released 15 singles (!) this year, including “Mary & Eve,” “Stray Cat” and “Don’t Speak” since September.

Kata Hay from Season 10 released her first single of 2024, “Western Witch,” on Friday. She figured the timely was perfect with “Wicked” hitting theaters the same day. She says the song is one of about a dozen that have been sitting in a folder on her phone since the pandemic. Says Kata: “The fact is y’all, if ya wait for everything to be perfect in life ya never are gonna make a move anywhere.”
