His audition: Jack Austin, 21, of Battle Creek, Michigan, performed “This Town” by Niall Horan. Jack immediately displayed a nice tone and got a quick chair turns from the two coaches he wanted — Michael Buble and Niall. He continues to show very nice vocal control. Eventually, Reba turned as well. Jack turned in a great audition. Niall said he loved the melodic choices Jack made on his song and joined him on stage to sing a bit of it. Jack calls it “a dream come true.” Reba called his voice pure and sweet. Jack joined Team Niall.

* He’s a 21-year-old from Battle Creek, Michigan, with experience in musical theater and as a singer-songwriter.

* Jack has four singles available on streaming sites dating back to 2021. He released a pair of songs in 2024 — “I Got a Love” and “Get Away.”

* “Get Away” is about trying to escape a toxic relationship and won Rock Song of the Year at the 2024 Josie Awards in Nashville, a show that celebrates the best in independent music.

* In an interview with his hometown newspaper, Jack said he was especially happy to win the award for something different. He typically writes and records music more in the pop vein.

* And he’s nominated for Josie Awards again this year, including Rising Star of the Year and Pop Song of the Year for “I Got a Love.”

* Jack is also a student involved in musical theater at Western Michigan University. In fact, he’s founder and director of a two-week summer camp therre call the Unity Theatre Company.

* The summer program takes about 40 children interested in musical theater and helps them learn and perform a full Broadway style production in two weeks. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s a ton of fun,” Jack told the campus newspaper.

* In terms of his own musical theater experience, one of his biggest roles was as star of a new musical called Boy on Billboard. In Jack’s words, the show is about “breaking the stigma surrounding mental health with offering healing and hope.” It debuted in Dallas, Tx., and Jack also got to play the role at 54 Below in New York.

* Pre-Voice, Jack has more than 138,000 followers and more than 5 million likes on his TikTok.
