Hey, American Idol fans: Don’t forget. Two of your favorites will be performing on TV Sunday night. The occasion is the 48th annual ACM Awards, which begin at 8 p.m. on CBS.
This might have been classic rock week on American Idol, but the guest performers were all country. Casey James and Carrie Underwood, one of the most successful Idol champs ever, returned to the Idol stage Thursday night.

Amerrican Idol made history tonight. When Burnell Taylor was eliminated, it marked the first time the finals have started with the ouster of four straight guys.
So tonight, we get to see if the guys on American Idol can set a show record for ineptitude. Never in the show’s first 11 years have four straight guys been booted at the start of the Idol finals.
American Idol’s Top 7 took on classic rock Wednesday night. Each of the remaining contestants took the stage alone, and Idol also broke them into two duos and a threesome for group numbers.
Two new American Idol albums landed on the Billboard 200 this week. Both could have, and probably should have, done better.
Just call it the night rock fashion overshadowed rock performances on American Idol. Not that the performances were too shabby. Far from it.
Classic rock is the theme we’ll be treated to tonight on American Idol. But don’t bother digging out your Megadeth T-shirts. No one said hard rock.
