I’m surprised Hollie Cavanagh didn’t get any screen time singing on the Galveston episode.

Last year, the native of England, who now lives in McKinney, Texas, made it all the way to the Vegas round before being eliminated.

She said the encouragement she got from all three judges to come back and try again made her decide to do so.

“I hope to get to the voting stage and that people vote for me,” she says in her golden ticket interview.  “But that’s a long way off.”

Hollie was featured in an audition episode last year.  She’s the 17-year-old who was so nervous she broke down in tears in her audition when it appeared she wouldn’t advance.

But in a show of determination, she asked the judges for a second chance and made the most of it.

Hollie says her favorite past Idols include Carrie Underwood, Lee DeWyze and Danny Gokey.

If you don’t remember Hollie, perhaps these non-Idol performances will help.

I have heard that Holly Cavanough, who was on the show last year and got cut just before the final 24, was on the show this year as well and in fact was still in the competition up to and including the final 42 (spoilers say 24). Yet she has not had one second of face time and we have not heard her name mentioned once or heard her voice for a second. That would put her a great disadvantage to those who AI has dwelled on all the way through the competition. Very rude!!

A good portion of the top 24 are people chosen to be “fodder” that the audience won’t vote for, so that the “chosen ones” that the producers think are the most marketable will get voted through. Hollie, like the other castaways from last season who didn’t make the top 24 (Colton Dixon, Aaron Sanders, Deandre Brackensick), is probably a fodder.

It’s funny to read this post and see Colton, DeAndre and Hollie described as “fodder” all in the top 10 and Hollie top 4 and counting.
