Iam Tongi is proving all those cheers he’s been hearing on American Idol can translate into success on the music charts.
The Top 3 on American Idol released winner’s singles at midnight eastern time Friday.
Within two hours, Iam had broken into the Top 100 on Apple Music’s singles chart.
As of 9 a.m. eastern time Friday, his new song “I’ll Be Seeing You,” was sitting at number 11 on that chart.
It was also number one on the site’s rock songs chart.
The other two members of the Top 3 had cracked the singles chart as well.
Colin Stough’s “I Still Talk to Jesus” had climbed to number 32 on Apple Music’s Top 200 as of 9 a.m.
It had jumped all the way to number 12 on the site’s country singles chart.
And Megan Danielle’s “Dream Girl” was sitting at number 77 on the Apple Music overall singles chart.
It was number 77 on the country songs chart.
5 p.m. update: Iam is all the way up to number six on the Top 200 singles chart and still sitting at number one on the rock chart.
Colin’s single has taken off on the charts, soaring to number 12 overall and number five on the country chart. Megan’s had made big leaps as well, climbing to 43 overall and 14 on the country chart.
Sunday, 12:01 a.m. update: Iam Tongi’s single is still number 7 on the Top 200, while Colin checks in at 15 and Megan at 78. Iam has been bumped down to number two on the rock singles chart. Colin and Megan are at five and 19, respectively, on the country singles chart.

Two things to keep in mind. Among the genre charts, the rock chart is much easier to climb than the country chart.
And Iam’s from Hawaii, where these singles were released at 6 p.m., not midnight.
But he’s also winning the popularity battle on YouTube, and by a very wide margin.
“I’ll Be Seeing You” had been streamed 31,000 times on the site as of 9 a.m.
That’s compared to 2,100 steams of Colin’s new single and 1,000 for Danielle.
5 p.m. update: Iam still leads by a hefty number here: 59,000 steams on YouTube compared to 5,100 for Colin and 4,800 for Megan.
Visualizers have also been dropped on YouTube. Again, Iam leads with 17,000 views of his compared to 3,400 for Colin and 1,700 for Megan.
