Abigayle Oakley of The Voice Season 29

Abigayle Oakley is among the artists who auditioned for Season 29 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC Monday, Feb. 23, with the coaching trio of Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

Here’s more about Abigayle:

* She’s Abigayle Kompst, born in Las Vegas and now based in Nashville.

* She moved to Nashville in 2018 to study at Belmont University and is now a Belmont grad, eventually changing her performing name to Abigayle Oakley.

* On her website, she says her music “blends the melodic richness of folk pioneers with the lyrical honesty of today’s confessional singer-songwriters.”

* More simply, she told Acoustic Live ““I really like to write about the human experience and how weird life can be at times. I want to make people feel connected to their humanity when they listen to my music. Life is weird, but, at least, we’re all in it together.”

* And Abigayle has lots of music you can check out on streaming sites, including an EP called “Vegas” in 2022 and an album called “Recovering Optimist” in 2023. She’s planning to release another EP this year.

* Check out her lovely singer-songwriter tone on a 2025 single called “Hazel Eyed Lover in Patagonia” below. She’s already released a song called “If You Ever Stop Loving Me” this year.

* She told Apple Music one of her earliest musical memories was singing “Away in a Manger” while dressed as a reindeer in pre-school. “I was a quiet kid, which is why everyone was shocked when I belted this song at the top of my 4-year-old lungs.”

* She began playing guitar at 12, writing songs at 15 and now prides herself on writing lots of songs, like 100 per year.

* “Sometimes writing is magic,” she told Acoustic Live. “It’s like the walls are whispering their best ideas just to you. And sometimes I show up to the page, and nothing good comes out. But no matter what, I show up. That would be my advice to prospective songwriters: Just write. Don’t worry about it being good. Just show up to the page and listen. The song will tell you what it wants to do.”
