Meet American Idol contestant Imani Handy

2

Imani Handy says she worked hard for her golden ticket, through no fault of the judges.

She actually forgot the words to her audition song, then pleaded for a second chance to impress them.

Well, they granted her that second chance, and Imani, of McKinney, Texas, got her golden ticket.

By that point, Imani had already tried the American Idol Experience at Disney and was a veteran of the stage, having snagged the solo at her class performance way back in kindergarten.

She laughs at that experience, partly because her mom caught it on film and then watched it over and over.

“She kept telling people, ‘Look, my baby can sing.”

Imani says her favorite Idol contestant is Adam Lambert; her favorite moment was his performance of “Mad World.”

As for her prospects on the show … “I think I was born for this, Imani says.
