Camille Tredoux of The Voice Season 28

Camille Tredoux of The Voice Season 28

Her audition: Camille Tredoux, 26, of Johannesburg, South Africa, performed “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who. Camille delivered a lovely opening. It took about two lines for her to get chair turns from Niall Horan and Reba McEntire. Camille rocks out a bit, then slows things down again for a tender and impressive ending. Niall called her audition amazing and said it reminded him of Janis Joplin. He also loved her Joni Mitchell like vibrato. He called her an exciting prospect for Team Niall. Reba called her performance “pure butter.” Camille decided to join Team Niall.

Here’s more about Camille:

* She’s a 26-year-old Portland-based singer-songwriter who’s already released music and arrives at The Voice with a very interesting back story.

* Born in Boston, she spent most of her childhood living in Romania and Johannesburg, South Africa. In a recent Instagram post, Camile says she fell in love with music at an early age and started taking piano lessons at age 6.

* At age 13, she moved to Colorado and lived there for about a decade before relocating to Portland to help care for her father, who was battling terminal cancer.

* She was also attending college, running cross country as an NCAA student and planning to attend law school before her father’s passing changed her path in life.

* “Three days before he passed, my father called. In that conversation, he asked me directly to pursue music,” Camille told Canvas Rebel. “He told me not to waste time. That I had something. That I needed to do it professionally. And deep down, I already knew he was right. That conversation gave me the permission I hadn’t yet given myself.”

* So she dropped out of college and devoted herself to music, intent on making a name for herself in the Portland music scene and beyond.

* Camille describes her music as blending “soul, jazz, blues and mysticism into a unique concoction of heartfelt and ethereal ballads.”

* She has followed up a 2021 album called “Skyline of Maybes” with five singles since the summer of 2023. They include “Whimsy” and “Love Me to the Bone,” two of her most popular on streaming sites.

* Her most recent single, “What If,” landed in April. She describes is as a “defiant, soul-baring anthem,” her reaction to real-life experiences of loss and being bullied.

* Camile also outlines her mission as an artist in that recent Instagram post, writing: “My calling is to help people reconnect with their truth so they can live a life that feels aligned, passionate and free — because when we are connected to the essence of our souls, the whole world heals.”
