Here’s more about Lucas:
* He’s a 20-year-old jazz singer from Lima, Peru, who’s now based in the Philadelphia, Pa. area.
* He enjoyed his New York debut earlier this year, performing at the Reverie Room with a set that included jazz standards, show tunes and timeless melodies.”
* Lucas also released his version of Cole Porter’s “Now You Has Jazz,” earlier this year. Check it out below.
* Says Lucas: “The original version of this song was made for the movie, ‘High Society,’ starring none other than Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong. Sixty-eight years later, it’s my turn to show the world what jazz is all about.”
* And that’s part of Lucas’s goal. In his TikTok bio, he writes: “Jazz is for young people.”
* In his website bio, Lucas says he caught the singing bug at age 15, during the height of the COVID lockdown.
* “With extra time on my hands, like many others, I dove deep into the music I loved—Jazz. It wasn’t just the genre itself that captivated me, but the vocalists, particularly legends like Mel Tormé and Ella Fitzgerald,” he explains.
* A graduate of Central High School in Philly, he also began performing in public after studying the performance style of renown jazz vocalists, including Frank Sinatra.
* “I now aim to bring that same relaxed, passionate energy to my own performances, always striving to make a genuine connection with my audience,” he writes on his website.
