Mindy Miller of The Voice Season 28

Her audition: Mindy Miller of Damascus, Md., performed “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” by Lainey Wilson. Wow, Mindy’s voice was great from note one. Lots of power and a very nice country tone. With a bit of rasp too.. It was also obvious that she’s an experienced performer. Snoop turned early in the performance. Reba turned too, but was blocked by Snoop. Snoop said he wanted a country artist, loved Mindy’s voice and her performance style and knew his best chance of landing her was to block Reba.

Here’s more about Mindy:

* She’s a veteran singer-songwriter from Frederick, Md., who’s been Nashville-based for the past four years.

* She classifies her musical as an “exhuberant, heartfelt blend of country, bluegrass and soul.”

* To date, she’s only released one single, 2023’s “I Don’t Wanna Drink Whiskey,” but that’s about to change.

* On Sunday — the day before The Voice Season 28 premiere — she’ll be releasing a song called “Rose of Jericho.” She says it’s a song that will be familiar to fans who attend her shows. And she’s working on a debut EP that will likely include both songs.

* Here’s how she describes her debut single, “I Don’t Wanna Drink Whiskey” “The lyrics are meant to be both uplifting and instructional. They’re a reminder of some things from the past, but also a theme for the future and a way of helping to inspire others through its message of defying a weakness and emerging stronger as a result of it.”

* Mindy also recently recorded a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” at the very same studio in California where the band’s “Rumors” album was recorded. Check it out below.

* In a 2024 interview, Mindy said she grew up in a musical family and has been singing as long as she can remember, including as a worship leader in church and with her father’s bluegrass band.

* She began performing her own gigs at age 14 and says she was gigging professionally around Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic area by age 16.

* Mindy says her musicial influences include George Jones, Patty Loveless, Patsy Cline, Chris Stapleton and Keith Whitley.
