One highlight of tonight’s American Idol elimination show will come at the very end.
And I’m not talking about the moment when Ryan reveals which contestant will be going home.
I’m talking about the song that will serenade the contestant as they take a “glimpse back at their Idol journey.”
The song will be Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home,” performed by Carrie Underwood, who’s about as un-Motley Crue like as you can get.
Of course, like all songs Idol, you’ll be able to download Carrie’s version of “Home Sweet Home.” First from iTunes exclusively through March 16; then from “online music retailers” everywhere, according to a blog posted today on Ms. Underwood’s MySpace page.
I don’t mind plugging that news because a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Humane Society of the United States.
Says Carrie in the blog: “I’ve always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes.”
Very nice, Carrie.
So that means we’ll get to hear from Idol’s two most successful former champs tonight — Kelly Clarkson when she sings her hit single during the show and Carrie as she sings contestants out.
Nice touch, Idol.
Check back at 9 p.m., when the live blogging begins.
