The Voice will air its second battle round episode Tuesday night. Below, you’ll find a list of the matchups viewers will see.
A pair of four-chair turns will return to the stage — Kayleigh Clark of Team Niall and Sadie Dahl of Team Snoop.
Each coach has one steal and one save this round. Reba McEntire has already used her steal. Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg have used their saves.
Based on the strength of their blind auditions, I’m predicting Sadie’s match with Toni Lorene as the one most likely to result in a steal on tonight’s show.
Following the links below will take you to a profile of each singer, complete with information on music they’ve already released. And 10 of the 12 artists on tonight’s show already have music out.
BEST OF THE NIGHT
TEAM SNOOP DOGG
The match: Sadie Dahl vs. Toni Lorene
The song: “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna
The background: Sadie Dahl, 19, of Draper, Utah, performed “Colors” by Black Puma in the blinds, turning all four chairs. Toni, 28, of Houston, Texas, performed “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo and turned three chairs.
The feedback: Niall said Voice fans just witnessed “something special” and praised both singers without voicing a preference. Reba called Sadie a powerhouse and said she loves her attitude on stage. But she gave a slight edge to Toni, call the duo “goofy talented.” Michael gave Toni the edge based on a “gorgeous” performance.
The outcome: Snoop declared Toni the winner, praising her precision and star power and calling her the complete package.. Niall then swooped in and stole Sadie, adding another four-chair turn to an already stacked team.
My take: Sadie turned in a nice, soulful vocal. And I wouldn’t be shocked if the 19-year-old goes deep into Season 28. But, wow, was Toni Lorene absolutely fabulous. I remember being stunned that her blind audition wasn’t a four-chair turn. Tuesday’s performance showed why it should have been. Vocals, on-stage charisma. Like Snoop said, she was “on fire” in that performance. I also loved the support the young ladies showed one another.
RUNNER-UP
TEAM REBA
The match: Aubrey Nicole vs. Cori Kennedy
The song: “Somethin’ Bad” by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood
The background: Cori, 28, of Kasson, Minn., performed “Why Not Me” by The Judds, turning two chairs in the blinds. Only Reba turned for Aubrey Nicole, who sang Cam’s “Burning House in the blinds.
The feedback: Snoop’s reaction: “Ya’ll made ‘Somethin’ Bad’ something good.” Snoop gave a slight edge to Cori. Niall called it a “real battle,” and also gave a slight edge to Cori. Michael said he didn’t know how Reba could choose. Reba totally enjoyed the performance.
The outcome: Reba named Cori the winner, then pushes her save button for Aubrey. Snoop tries to steal Aubrey. Aubrey opts to stay with Team Reba.
My take: Wow, you have to admire the attitude these ladies brought to the stage. Cori brought just a bit more vocal firepower and a bit more of that attitude. But the real revelation here was Aubrey, with superlative vocals one wouldn’t expect from a singer montaged during the blind auditions. It was great to see both singers advance.
A HORRIBLE SONG CHOICE
TEAM NIALL
The match: Camille Tredoux vs. Kayleigh Clark
The song: “Cowboys Cry Too” by Kelsea Ballerini
The background: Kayleigh, 20, of Sumrall, Mississippi performed “Stay” by Sugarland in the blinds and turned all four chairs. Camille, 26, of Johannesburg, South Africa, performed “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who and turned two chairs.
The feedback: Reba was doling out big-time compliments, comparing Camille to Stevie Nicks and calling Kayleigh a cross between Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. She gave the edge to Kayleigh. Michael also gave the edge to Kayleigh, though he praised Camille for doing so well on a song she probably wouldn’t have chosen to sing. You think?
The outcome: Niall advanced Kayleigh. Camille was eliminated. Niall called Kayleigh the perfect singer and also said she reminds him a bit of Carrie Underwood. That’s high praise, for sure.
My take: A big boo for Niall. When you have two singers paired up who are this different, you give them a song that splits the difference. Instead, he served up a big fat fastball to Kayleigh and gave Camille a song miles from her wheelhouse. That’s not to take anything from Kayleigh. She was spot-on from her first note and especially impressive on her last solo bit.
THE COACH GOT IT PARTLY WRONG
TEAM MICHAEL
The match: Max Cooper vs. Lucas Beltran
The song: “It’s a Beautiful Day” by Michael Bublé
The background: MaxI, 23, of Kansas City, Miss., performed “Cooler Than Me” by Mike Posner, turning all four chairs in the blinds. Lucas, 19, of Philadelphia, Pa., performed “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” by Lou Rawls and turned two chairs.
The feedback: Snoop loved the energy they brought to the performance. Niall praised both singers for their vocal performance and gave Max a slight edge because of his range. Reba gave the edge to Lucas. Michael praised the richness of Lucas’s vocal and Max’s musical ability
The outcome: Michael advanced Max, in part because of his versatility. Lucas was eliminated.
My take: On this song, on this night, Lucas delivered the better vocal. That said, I understand Michael’s rationale. Max is the more versatile performer. He earned 4 chair turns in the blinds. And he displayed nice showmanship on this duet. In fact, what stood out to me most about this performance was the camaraderie between the singers. Both are to be commended on that.
THE COACHES GOT IT RIGHT
TEAM REBA
The match: Ryan Mitchell vs. Letter to Elise
The song: “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds
The background: Elliott Hunt, 27, and Chris Lillis, 30, of Letter to Elise, from Buffalo, New York, performed “Take on Me” by A-Ha in the blinds. They turned two chairs. Ryan Mitchell failed to turn a chair in his initial audition, but got Carson Daly’s first-ever Carson Callback. He returned to sing “Baby, One More Time” by Britney Spears and enticed Reba to turn her chair.
The feedback: Snoop called the performance “groovy like a drive-in movie. He said all three singers “are superstars in my eyes.” Niall gave a slight edge to Ryan based on his growth since the blind audition. Michael gave Ryan the edge based on his charisma. Reba praised the three performers for delivering a fun cover, calling it “crazy good.”
The outcome: Reba advanced Ryan Mitchell. Letter to Elise was eliminated.
My take: This wasn’t even close. Ryan was more impressive than in either of his blind audition performances. And he indeed delivered the charisma Michael talked about. Meanwhile, it seemed like someone set Letter for Elise’s microphones at half volume. It’s tough for duos to stand out when a third singer joins them on stage, and I think that’s part of the struggle Letter for Elise faced.
TEAM MICHAEL
The match: Carly Harvey vs. Marty O’Reilly
The song: “At This Moment” by The Beatles
The background: Carly, 39, of Washington, D.C., performed “It Hurts So Bad” by Little Anthony & The Imperials, turning two chairs in the blinds. Marty, 36, of Sonoma, Calif., performed “Trouble” by Ray LaMontagne and earned three chair turns.
The feedback: Snoop thought the song was perfect for them. Niall praised Carly’s powerhouse vocals, but said he would lean toward Marty because of his story-telling ability. Reba said she loves the husky quality to Marty’s voice and also gave him the edge.
The outcome: Michael declared Marty the winner; Carly was eliminated. Michael said he picked Marty based on his “unique, special, wonderful” vocals.
My take: Carla was way too timid on the opening and didn’t really take flight vocally until more than a minute and a half into the song. Marty, meanwhile, showed off that unique, husky growl of his from the first note he sang.
WHO KNOWS
TEAM NIALL
The match: Alex Brown vs. Liam Von Elbe
The song: “Linger” by The Cranberries
The background: Alex, 26, of New Hope, Alabama, performed “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” by Al Green. He turned the chairs of Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan, the only coaches with spots remaining on their teams when he auditioned. Liam von Elbe, 30, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., performed “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” by John Mayer and also turned two chairs in the blinds.
The feedback: The Voice montaged this performance, so we only got to see a snippet and hear a small portion of the feedback. Niall complimented Liam on another “beautiful” performance and added that his brings a unique singer-songwriter skill to Team Niall.
The outcome: Niall advanced Liam. Alex was eliminated.
My take: Two weeks ago, The Voice ran a one-hour clip show. That means there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for The Voice to be montagING performances. And if they decide to do so, THERE’S EVEN LESS EXCUSE for not putting the full performance on YouTube. Montages are COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL TO THE ARTISTS AND THE TIME THEY DEDICATE TO THE SHOW AND TO THESE PERFORMANCES. THE VOICE SHOULD BE ASHAMED — COMPLETELY ASHAMED — TO STILL BE MONTAGING PERFORMANCES AND NOT AT LEAST OFFERING VIEWERS THE FULL PERFORMANCE ONLINE.

More contestants montaged.
What a waste of talent, time, energy, effort, and money for the contestants.
More clip shows.
Nobody cares about how contestants are treated on “The Voice.” Not the producers, not the coaches, not that host, not NBC.
You have every right to be angry.
The viewers should be, as well.
It’s all about money.
That and making the coaches household names.
