Idols on the Music Chart, Kelly Clarkson

‘Stronger’ muscles its way to the top of another chart

Original Idol Kelly Clarkson reached the peek of another Billboard chart this week with her latest single, “Stronger.”

The song is now number one among pop songs, jumping past Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.”

That makes five different singles charts “Stronger” has topped. Last month, it became Kelly’s first-ever number one on the dance/club play chart.

And a sixth number one is within Kelly’s reach. The song is number two on Billboard’s Radio Play chart, behind … that’s right, Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.”

“Stronger” is still number two on the Hot 100 after previously spending three weeks at number one. And it remains number one among adult pop songs.

The song is also helping Kelly’s album by the same name. It’s number 20 on the Billboard 200, up four spots from last week.

All of which prompts one question: What in the world is Kelly doing mentoring contestants on NBC’s The Voice?

Instead, Idol offers us up Will.i.am as a guest mentor once again.  A losing proposition for Idol fans for sure.

Oh, well, Idol, we can always watch Kelly on The Voice.

Other chart highlights:

Lauren Alaina got a nice little boost from her appearance on Idol.  “Georgia Peaches” hit the top 30 on Billboard’s country singles chart for the first time since being released 20 weeks ago. And Lauren’s album re-entered the Billboard 200 at 151 and jumped from 30 to 23 on the county albums chart.

* Just days away from the release of his debut album, Casey James saw his lead single reach a new peek of 24 on the country singles chart.  The song is “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night.”  Casey’s album hits stores Tuesday.

* Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” is making a rapid ascent on the country singles chart, checking in at number 15 this week.  But is slipped form 18 to 37 on the Hot 100.  Maybe the release of that hot new video will help.
