A shipyard mechanic, Jovany says he sees Idol as a chance to pursue the type of dream his family envisioned when they moved to the U.S. from Cuba. And he might score brownie points by proclaiming Marc Anthony — J-Lo’s hubby — as the artist he most admires “artistically, lyrically and vocally.” And he’d like to carry on the legacy by bringing “the Latin back to music, to the American culture again.” This is the guy who insisted on stripping off his shirt to show Jennifer Lopez his physique. Kudos, Jovany, for managing to keep your shirt on during the Idol video interview.
