American Idol Season 15

A look at who’s likely to make the Top 8 on American Idol

Who’s likely to survive tonight’s cut on American Idol?

Well, if YouTube popularity has anything to do with it, La’Porsha Renae has absolutely nothing to worry about.

As of midnight, her performance of “Diamonds” from last week’s Top 10 show had attracted more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.

Now, that pales in comparison to the more than 11 million for Kelly Clarkson’s emotional rendition of “Piece by Piece.”

But La’Porsha doesn’t have to compete against Kelly, and those 1.2 million views are more than three times the number for any other performance from a contestant last Thursday night.

Sonika Vaid is the only other contestant with more than 300,000 views for her Top 10 effort, a splendid cover of “Bring Me to Life.”

Three other contestants have topped 200,000 — Dalton Rapattoni, Trent Harmon and MacKenzie Bourg.

The individuals at the bottom of the YouTube popularity list are the three youngest contestants — Lee Jean, Gianna Isabella and Tristan McIntosh, all of whom struggled last week.

That said, I’m not sure the number of views for Tristan’s performance is accurate because the video seems to have been posted days after all the others.
