We’re just a week away from the first Idol CD release of 2010.

That’s right, the first full week of 2010 brings a new Idol album as season five runnerup Katharine McPhee returns with her second album, “Unbroken.”

You can get a sneak peak at what’s in store on Friday when Walmart Soundcheck posts an interview and mini-concert by Kat.

She’ll sing three songs off the new album — “Lifetime,” “Say Goodbye” and the single “Had It All.” The soundcheck version of “Had It All” will be available as a free download.

During the interview, Kat explains the name of the new album.

“I was looking through the different song titles and I saw ‘Unbroken,'” she recalls. “I said, ‘That’s a cool word.’ So I looked it up in the dictionary and one of the definitions was untamed and wild. I felt that sort of described my process of making this record.

“My record company really gave me the opportunity to find the direction I wanted to go.”

To check out the soundcheck performance, go here starting Friday.

And, if you’d like an early listen to the album, head here.
