When Adam David finished his blind audition for The Voice, he found just one chair facing his direction, that of Michael Bublé.

Michael immediately turned to his fellow coaches and said, “Thank you, guys. Thank you.”

Little could he know he’s just landed The Voice’s Season 27 champion.

Adam David, 35, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was announced the winner Tuesday night in one of the more shocking results in the show’s history.

And that’s not only because he was a one-chair turn who went on to win the show.

It’s also because he needed an instant save last Tuesday night to even make the finale.

Adam was in danger of elimination on last Tuesday’s results show. Renzo of Team Legend, Lucia Flores-Wiseman of Team Adam, Jaelen Johnston of Team Kelsea and Adam’s teammate Jaydn Cree had been voted into the finale.

That left Adam as one of four contestants singing a save song for the final spot in the finale.

Adam delivered a rousing version of “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims to win that instant save, then followed it up with two more solid performances Monday night, singing “You Are So Beautiful” and “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

And Tuesday, he became the first instant save recipient to win the show. Jaelan finished second, Renzo was third, Lucia finished fourth and Jadyn came in fifth.

It also marked the second straight coaching win for Michael, who guided Sonofrio Vasquez to the title in Season 26.

That too marked something of a surprise. Michael failed to lure a single three- or four-chair turn to his team at any point in Season 27.

Adam entered the show as a veteran musician who had already released music. His most recent single, “Savior,” dropped in March. It’s a song he began writing the night he entered treatment for addiction back in 2019 and finished on the day he completed the treatment program.
