Adam Lambert to perform on 1st results show of finals

An Adam performance will be featured on Thursday’s results show, Idol announced this morning. Also featured will be a performance by Diddy-Dirty Money, who will be joined by Skylar Grey.

All of that will take place during a Thursday night results show that will run from 8 to 9 p.m.

We’ll also likely hear that new farewell song by David Cook — the cover of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” — which was somehow omitted from last night’s show.

If you haven’t heard the full song yet and would like to, head here.

On Wednesday, from 8 to 10 p.m., the 13 remaining contestants will perform in the finals for the first time.

Idol’s press release for next week’s show says the finalists will be singing songs by their favorite artists.

So it sounds like Nigel Lythgoe is living up to his promise that the contestants will be given broad themes so they can sing music they’re well suited to perform.

Adam, of course, served as a mentor for the Idols last year.

He tweeted that he’ll be performing “Aftermath,” a song from his debut album.

“Gonna take it down acoustic style,” he wrote in his tweet.

And a remix of the song will be available that day on Adam’s website.

Proceeds will benefit the Trevor Project, which is fighting to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning  youth. Among its programs, the organization offers a 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline.

I can’t wait to hear the David Cook exit song “Don’t You Forget About Me”. It should have been played since they eliminated 9 contestants on last night’s show. Can’t wait.
