Kelly Clarkson has recorded a stripped-down version of “Piece by Piece.”

The news followed her Thursday night guest judging appearance on the show. She finished the night by singing “Piece by Piece” in an emotional performance that delivered Idol with one of its most memorable moments in years.

Since then the video of the performance has been viewed on YouTube more than 8 million times.

And “Piece to Piece” has soared to number one on the iTunes singles chart.

It did that the day after Kelly’s performance aired, and it was still number one Sunday afternoon.

So on Friday, Kelly tweeted: “Recording the version of Piece By Piece today we performed on @AmericanIdol last night! No rest for the emotional!”

And she was getting reaction to the performance from some of the biggest names in music.
