Alejandro Aranda, aka Scarypoolparty, has signed with Hollywood Records.

Alejandro Aranda is officially Scarypoolparty again.

He’s also officially a Hollywood Records artist, which will be interesting to watch.

Scarypoolparty released his first single with the label Friday. “Tonight” is a song he wrote and co-produced with his friend Twin Shadow (George Lewis Jr.).

Bex Griffin directed the accompanying music video, which features a closeup of Alejandro singing the song while lying on his back.

As Scarypoolparty, Alejandro released three singles prior to auditioning for Season 17 of American Idol.

He used his real name on the show and wound up as runner-up to winner Laine Hardy, who is also now a Hollywood Records artist.

Alejandro clearly preferred singing his own songs to performing covers on the show. In fact, “Tonight” was one of four originals he sang during the Season 17 finale, something that’s never happened before.

Will Hollywood Records wind up being a good fit for Scarypoolparty? We’re about to find out.

Meanwhile, ticket sales are now underway for Alejandro’s fall tour.

That tour kicks off in Berkley, Calif., on Oct. 10 and includes stops in Philly (Oct. 29) and Baltimore (Nov. 1). Head to bandsintown for ticket information.

Here’s the music video for “Tonight.”
