Aspiring country artists are being encouraged to cover a song by one of this year’s nominated artists and post it to Instagram between now and Sunday using the hashtag #IdolCMAContest.
Idol producers will select three finalists and have them travel to Nashville to record a country cover that will be shown during the CMAs, which will air Wednesday, Nov. 14, on ABC.
Fans will then vote for their favorite, with the winning being announced on Good Morning America Friday, Nov. 16, and advancing straight to Hollywood when Idol Season 17 begins.
Songs contestants can cover include Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” and Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man.”
