I was sorry to see Casey Abrams go home last night. He brought an element of surprise to the show each week that will be sorely missed.

I mean, from week to week, I don’t think there’s much doubt about the type of performance we’ll see from Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina.

Casey has been Idol’s wild card, verging on wild man at times.

And you had to love the way he belted out his farewell song while working his way around the audience, ending up back on stage to sing the final words to Haley Reinhart.

Check back early this afternoon for the exit interview with Casey.  Something tells me he might get asked about his relationship with Haley.
