Within 12 hours, he reached his campaign goal. He wound up raising more than twice the $5,000 he had hoped for.
And this weekend, the first sample of what he’s been working on hit iTunes: an impressive debut single called “Break My Heart” that you can listen to below while watching the official video for the song.
The self-titled album, consisting of 11 tracks (there are two versions of a song called “Fairytales”), is due out July 21. Pre-orders for the album are available here, along with all sorts of bundles, one of which includes a disposable camera full of photos from the recording process.
What a process it must have been. Writes Alex on Facebook: “We recorded this album in the middle of the hot desert, in a small cabin, completely ‘do it yourself.’
“Yu don’t need huge companies and lots of money to express yourself. Just some good friends, hard work, sunscreen and a love for music.”
Alex, of course, finished third on American Idol Season 13. For a look at the music released from other Season 13 contestants to date, head here.
Here’s the single.
