American Idol experts aren’t exactly in agreement on who will take the crown tonight. But, hey, unpredictability makes for a great Season 13 finale, right?
Wow, you might have to go back to Season 7, when David Cook and David Archuleta squared off for the Idol title, to find a final two who are this close. If anything, Tuesday night’s performance finale muddied the Idol waters.
Josh Kaufman, 38 at the time, began his time on The Voice by singing “One More Try” in his blind audition. He felt the song was appropriate because he was giving music one more try while contemplating that it might be time to get “a responsible job.”
Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson each took the stage three times Tuesday night. They sang a song chosen by Idol creator Simon Fuller, repeated one of their favorite songs and sang their new singles.
Here’s a guess about tonight’s American Idol performance finale: It won’t be boring. The singers the Idol judges prodded to be more animated all season — meaning Sam Woolf, Jess Meuse and Alex Preston — were eliminated over the last three weeks.
Well, I expected tonight’s Season 6 finale of The Voice to come down to a showdown between Christina Grimmie and Josh Kaufman. But if voting patterns follow Tuesday’s iTunes results, the showdown might be between Christina and Jake Worthington.
Christina Grimmie scored a major hit when she covered Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on The Voice performance finale Monday night. When voting closed at noon, the song was sitting at number three on the overall iTunes chart.
The final three squared off Monday night on The Voice. Josh Kaufman took the stage three times, representing Team Usher.
