The Idol gals (probably gladly) go solo in Hollywood
We’re in for a big night on American Idol. An hour from now, we’ll be a heck of a lot closer to knowing who we might be voting on in a couple of weeks when the live semifinals are held.

The female singers finally took center stage on American Idol Wednesday night. Early on in the Hollywood Week episode, Angela Miller stepped before the judges proclaiming, “It’s a girl’s year,” and adding that it’s been too long since a gal prevailed on Idol.
You could say persistence paid off for Mathenee Treco. Three times, he tried out for American Idol and failed.
Nick Boddington turned in the performance of the night on the final solo round for the American Idol guys in Hollywood. Playing the keys himself, he delivered a sparkling version of Grace Potter’s “Stars” that had judge Keith Urban complimenting him on his “beautiful” vocal range.
After Vincent Powell got done impressing the judges with a version of “Rock Me Baby” in the San Antonio auditions, judge Nicki Minaj said she could just imagine him recording a gospel CD. Well, there’s no need to imagine, Ms. Minaj.
Paul Jolley should certainly be prepared for most anything American Idol throws his way. The 22-year-old from Palmersville, Tenn., told his hometown newspaper, the Dresden Enterprise, that he’s competed in more than 100 talent competitions across four states.
We didn’t get to see much of Kevin Harris’ audition during the San Antonio episode of American Idol. But apparently the highlight was his exit from the audition room.
If there’s a sentimental favorite early in Season 12 of American Idol, it’s Lazaro Arbos. We were introduced to the 21-year-old from Naples, Fla., by way of Cuba, at the end of Idol’s Chicago audition episode.
We haven’t seen much of Josh “Jada” Davila on Season 12 of American Idol. But he was featured during Hollywood Week as a member of perhaps the most dysfunctional group Idol producers created.
Josh Holiday is one of the products of American Idol’s small-town tour, launched for the first time in Season 12. He says a friend invited him to go along and audition when the Idol bus stopped in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Luck of the Draw
Laci Kaye Booth, Top 5 on American Idol Season 17, recently dropped a new single. And if you somehow missed her 2024 album, "Loneliest Girl in the World," do yourself a favor and check it out!
