American Idol went to Las Vegas with a new format and a new look Wednesday night. By the time the show ended, we had five semifinalists — Tenna Torres, Angela Miller, Amber Holcomb, Adriana Latonio and Kree Harrison. And five disappointed young ladies — Isabelle, Shubha Vedula, Kamaria Ousley, Brandy Hotard and Jenny Beth Willis.
Over the weekend, American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe sent out a couple of tweets about the talent level on Season 12. One read like this: “I believe the girls have great voices this year. The boys are good and are interesting characters.” And another: “3 great guys, 10 great girls.”
Season 9 American Idol contestant Katie Stevens would like to be part of the pilot for a new TV show. And she and the production team are hoping you’ll be willing to help fund that pilot.
Crystal Bowersox’s new album now has a release date: March 26. And pre-orders for her second album are now being taken on iTunes.

Listen back to the American Idol auditions, and one of the most impressive is a version of “Summertime,” delivered in New York by Isabelle. In fact, Isabelle has sparkled every time she’s been on the Idol stage so far.
Lots of American Idol watchers are comparing Adriana Latonio to Jessica Sanchez. After all, they both are of Filipino descent. They both decided to try American Idol at a very young age. And they both have a penchant for power ballads.
We know this about Brianna Steer: She must be a good sport. Otherwise last Wednesday’s Hollywood Week episode on American Idol would have been chock full of clips of Steer making snide remarks about her offbeat group day mate, Kez Ban.
Angela Miller showed up on the stage in Hollywood proclaiming this is “definitely” a girl’s year on American Idol. Judging from the judges’ reaction to her final solo performance in Hollywood, she has a legitimate shot to be that “girl.”
Luck of the Draw
Laci Kaye Booth, Top 5 on American Idol Season 17, recently dropped a new single. And if you somehow missed her 2024 album, "Loneliest Girl in the World," do yourself a favor and check it out!
