There’s certainly nothing subtle about Zoanette Johnson of American Idol. She showed up on our TV screens during Idol’s Oklahoma City auditions, shaking her booty at the camera, proclaiming that she needed a golden ticket to match her outfit and declaring that she was ready to “take my crown.”
Cristabel Clack told the San Antonio Express-News that she’d pretty much swore off singing competitions. She had auditioned in the past, only to be cut in the first round.
We weren’t introduced to Kree Harrison on American Idol until the final Hollywood episode. But it was quite an introduction as she delivered a wonderful version of Grace Potter’s “Stars.”
If American Idol doles out an award for most congenial contestant in Season 12, it just might go to Rachel Hale. Judges were certainly impressed by her vocals on “People Get Ready” during the Long Beach audition episode.
You might say Shubha Vedula owes her spot on American Idol to her older sister Priya. It was Priya who convinced Shubha to submit an online audition to the show — an audition that eventually earned her a spot in front of the judges in Long Beach.
Here’s a personable young pop singer we haven’t seen nearly enough of on Season 12 of American Idol. In fact, our only substantial introduction to Bridget Hermano — she performs as Jett — came on group night in Hollywood.
Two years ago, American Idol seemed to feature an endless stream of 15- and 16-year old singers. This year, just one contestant under 17 has made the Vegas round — 15-year-old Juliana Chayhayed of West Hills, Calif.
Add Jenny Beth Willis to the list of aspiring country singers who have advanced to the Vegas round on American Idol. We met her in last Wednesday’s episode as part of the group Raisin’ Cain.
American Idol took time to introduce us to its singing doctor in the Baton Rouge audition episode. The show didn’t introduce us to its singing nurse, even though she advanced farther on the show.
You’ve gotta love Amber Holcomb’s attitude. Last year, she advanced all the way to Vegas before being cut after a group round performance with eventual finalists Joshua Ledet, Shannon Magrane and another returning Season 12 contestant, Curtis Finch Jr.
