Here’s hoping Billboard 2011 is kinder to the Idols. Most of the albums released in 2010 where gone from the Billboard 200 in a blink.

Anyway, on to this week’s highlights:

* Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song” continues to inch closer to that number one spot on the country singles chart. It’s at number three. Only Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” and Tim McGraw’s “Felt Good on My Lips” stands between Carrie and a fourth number one from “Play On.”

* Crystal Bowersox avoided a Billboard 200 nosedive with “Farmer’s Daughter.” The album dropped from 28 to 47. In contract, Lee DeWyze’s debut plummeted from a number 19 debut to 93 in week two.

* Daughtry’s “Leave This Town” disappeared from the Billboard 200 for three weeks. It returned a week ago. No it’s all the way back up to 161. Nice sophomore showing for Chris and the guys.

* And, finally, Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t You Want to Stay” duet with Jason Aldean (on his “My Kinda Party” album) is up to number 57 on the Hot 100 and 21 on the country chart. Kelly’s one of the former Idols we’re supposed to get new music from in 2011. Can’t wait.
