Blake Lewis, Idols on the Music Chart

Blake Lewis completes the climb to No. 1 on dance chart

Season six American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis reaches the top of the dance charts with 'Heartbreak on Vinyl.' (Myriam Santos Photo)Yesterday, I posted a blog reporting that Blake Lewis was closing in on his first number one single with “Heartbreak on Vinyl.”

The info was based on the music charts posted Thursday on Billboard.com.

Well, looks like Blake might have completed the climb. (Thanks to LittleLisa24 on twitter for the tip.)

Last night, Blake tweeted that “Heartbreak” had reached number one on Billboard’s dance club play charts. And Music Fascination was reporting the same today.

It’s quite a feat for Blake, who’s always been one of the most underappreciated American Idol finalists.

It also marks his second dance club hit off his new album. “Sad Song” climbed as high as number 11 on the same chart.

If you haven’t checked out the “Heartbreak on Vinyl” album, you should head here and give it a listen.

It’s filled with potential hits, like “Rhythm of My Heart,” “Afraid” and my favorite, “Love or Torture.”

Blake recently released an EP of “Heartbreak on Vinyl” remixes, available through his Web site. And earlier this week, he tweeted that a video of the song is in the works.

Guess it’s too much to ask for a return of Casey Carlson, the dark-haired beauty from season eight of Idol and co-star of Blake’s “Sad Song” video.

But here’s hoping. And, in the meantime, here’s that video.
