Update: TMZ put former Idol contestant Brittany Kerr back into the spotlight over the weekend, along with country star Jason Aldean. Brittany has since deleted her Twitter account. And TMZ is now reporting that Brittany has apologized for the incident, quoting her as stating: “The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends & family.”
Previous blog: Male viewers of American Idol are probably a little distraught tonight.
NBA dancer Brittany Kerr was among the victims of American Idol’s always dramatic final cut in Hollywood.
Brittany first appeared on Idol in the season premiere from Savannah, where Randy and Steven granted her a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Idol also flashed a couple photos of Brittany in her Charlotte Bobcat dancing outfit on screen, and that was enough to get guys goggling to find more images, to the point where two websites couldn’t handle the traffic.
During Wednesday’s first Hollywood episode, Brittany was shown a couple of times, arriving in her hotel, congratulating fellow Savannah auditioner David Leathers Jr., for instance. We didn’t get to hear her sing.
And, unfortunately, we didn’t see her group performance or solo performance either. But she must have done very well for someone who had never sang in front of an audience from to her Idol audition. Of the 301 who made it to Hollywood, only 98 advanced to that final performance.
Have no fear Brittany fans. I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of this gal.
In fact, she just sent out a thank you to fans at 11 p.m., proclaiming “this journey has only begun.”
In a story posted on FOX Sports Carolinas Wednesday, fellow Lady Cat Cara said of Brittany: “I think she can pretty much do a lot of things. Especially with her look, she can kind of do anything.”
Brittany writes on her website that modeling is a “secret passion.” She has a non-singing role in an excellent 12-minute video for the song “Watch You Fall.”
Among the new things I’ve learned about Brittany since posting a 10 things you should know blog on Wednesday …
She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2009, but returned to take classes the following fall because she’s a huge fan of Crimson Tide football and didn’t want to miss a special 2010 season that ended in a national championship.
Her favorite Crimson Tide player of all-time is Joe Namath, she has a black belt in taekwondo and is a pet lover who would like to do some nonprofit stuff for animals at some point.
All that comes courtesy of the FSCarolinas piece. Head there and you can watch the interview in video. Oh, guys, they’ve also embedded Brittany’s “behind the scenes” Lady Cat calendar shoot video.
For those of you who just can’t get enough Brittany, here are the other interview she’s done lately, followed by a last look at her Idol audition.
