Caleb Johnson debuts new song from debut album

Caleb JohnsonSeason 13 American Idol winner Caleb Johnson is treating fans to another track from his debut album, “Testify.”

Caleb posted “Only One” to YouTube on Monday and tweeted out the link.

“Check out the first single that I co-wrote … Super proud of it and I hope you enjoy it!” he tweeted.

On Facebook, he promised more surprises this week as the Aug. 12 release date for his debut album nears.

No word on whether the single will be available for download before then.

But that Aug. 12 album release date seems firm, which might surprise folks who remember how we were promised an early release of Season 12 winner Candice Glover’s album, only to see it postponed time and again.

In fact, pre-orders are under way for the album on iTunes at the bargain price of $7.99.

Caleb, of course, is on tour with the rest of the Idols right now.

He told Billboard last month that the songs for the album were all written in a week.

“Only One” is a pop-rock song and sounds more like a hit than Caleb’s first single, “As Long As You Love Me,” which was released back in May in conjunction with his appearance in the Idol finale.
