Season 13 American Idol champ Caleb Johnson is back with new music

Season 13 American Idol champ Caleb Johnson is back with new music.

Ready for some rock and roll, Caleb Johnson style.

The Season 13 American Idol winner has a new single out, and an album on the way.

The single is “Solid Gold,” written Blair Daly and Jay Buchanan of the rock band Rival Sons.

“Honored to have been given the opportunity to record such a monster track!!!” Caleb writes on Facebook.

The album will be called “Born From Southern Ground” by Caleb Johnson and the Ramblin’ Saints.

It won’t be out until June 14, but it’s already available for pre-order on iTunes. Those doing so get “Solid Ground” and a second track, “Born and Raised,” as instant downloads.

The album features nine songs. Two of those — “Holding On” and two versions of “Hanging with the Band” — are songs Caleb previously released as singles.

“Born from Southern Ground” will mark the first album from Caleb since 2014’s “Testify.”

Here’s “Solid Gold.”
