Idols on the Music Chart

Can Kelly Clarkson top the dance chart, too?

0

This was quite a week for Kelly Clarkson.

She performed on the Grammys with Jason Aldean.

Her latest single “Stronger” was number one on the Hot 1oo for the second straight week.

And it moved within one spot of  becoming her first number one Billboard dance hit.

“Stronger” has been roaring up that chart, going from 24 four weeks ago to number two this week.

The only song standing between it and the top spot:  “Dance On” by the five gals known as Blush.

If “Stronger” reaches number one, it will be the third chart it has topped.  It was the number one digital single in the land for two weeks before dropping to number two this week.

Kelly has had two other songs crack the top 10 on the dance chart — “Walk Away” reached number five and “My Life Would Suck Without You” reached number seven.

Fueled by the success of the single, Kelly’s album by the same name has rebounded on the Billboard 200.  It had dropped as low as number 20.  It’s now back up to number 12.

Other Idol chart highlights this week:

*  Scotty McCreery’s second single, “The Trouble With Girls,” reached a new high of 19 on the country singles chart, 14 weeks after it’s release. After 19 weeks, his album is still in the top 10 on the country albums chart.

* Kellie Pickler won’t be able to say the same.  Her third album, “100 Proof,” debuted at number two on the country charts three weeks ago, dropped to numbe eight last week and all the way to 16 this week.

Here’s the complete chart rundown.
