Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery walked away with honors from the American Country Awards, presented Monday night in Las Vegas and televised on FOX.
Carrie dominated the first-ever American Country Awards in 2010, earning six, including Artist of the Year.
This time around, she was nominated for four awards and won three — female artist of the year, female single of the year (“Mama’s Song), and female video of the year (also for “Mama’s Song”).
Scotty McCreery, the season 10 American Idol, prevailed against stiff competition in the best new artist category. The other nominees include The Band Perry and Pistol Annies.
The top honors during the show went to Jason Aldean for Artist of the Year, and Toby Keith as Artist of the Decade.
Most of the awards were decided by fan voting. The Artist of the Decade honors was determined by radio airplay.
Two other Idols — Lauren Alaina and Jordin Sparks — were on hand to present awards at Monday’s show.
