Carrie Underwood hits number one on the country singles chart.
Blake Lewis hits number three on the dance club chart.
And Adam Lambert scores his first top 20 hit.
Lots of good news for the Idols on the Billboard charts this week, capped by Carrie, whose “Temporary Home” completed its 18-week run to the top of the country singles list.
Her song nudged Easton Corbin’s “A Little More Country Than That” out of the top spot.
It marks Carrie’s second number one country single off “Play On,” which follows four number one country singles off her second album, “Carnival Ride,” which followed three number one singles off her debut album “Some Hearts.”
That’s Carrie at right during a photo shoot for the “Pedigree Adopt a Pet Drive” earlier this week. For more photos and information about the effort, go here.
Carrie, by the way, was back in Pennsylvania Monday night, playing in Wilkes-Barre. Here’s a link to a review and photos from that concert.
And here’s a look at how all the Idols did on the music charts this week.
Kris Allen: “Live Like We’re Dying” continues a slow slide on the Hot 100 singles chart, slipping from 22 to 23 this week. It’s now number 17 among pop singles, down from 13. Meanwhile, Kris’ debut album has dropped out of the Billboard 200 for the first time.
Daughtry: After 17 weeks on the charts, “Life After You” is still stuck in the 30s on the Hot 100. It’s 37 this week, up one spot from a week ago. The band’s second album drops eight spots to number 72 on the Billboard 200. Of course, that debut album is still among the 200 best-selling albums in the land at number 196.
Danny Gokey: Danny’s “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” single is stuck at number 29 on the county chart for the third straight week. His album drops from number 9 to 10 on the country chart, from number 33 to 50 on the Billboard 200.
Adam Lambert: It’s been a slow climb, but “Whataya Want From Me” has finally cracked the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100, moving up one spot to number 20. The song hangs steady at number 14 on the pop singles chart. Adam’s first single off his album is number 21 on the dance club chart. The album moves up from 71 to 65 on the Billboard 200.
Blake Lewis: Blake’s 2009 album didn’t tear up the charts, but he’s enjoying success at the dance clubs with a second straight single. “Heartbreak on Vinyl,” the title track off that album, advances another spot on that chart this week, moving all the way up to number three. It was released just nine weeks ago.
Kellie Pickler: Kellie doesn’t have a single among the top 30 on the country charts right now, but her album continues to do well, moving from 40 to 38 on the country album chart.
Ruben Studdard: You heard about Ruben’s tour with Clay Aiken, right? And his upcoming concert in Lancaster? If not, go here. Meanwhile, his latest single, “Don’t Make ‘Em Like U No More,” drops from 40 to 50 on the Billboard R&B singles chart.
Carrie Underwood: In addition to being number one on the country singles chart, “Temporary Home” is number 41 on the Hot 100. “Play On” holds steady at number six on the country album chart. It drops from 28 to 31 on the Billboard 200, but that still makes it the top-ranked Idol-related album.
