Idols on the Music Chart

Carrie charging up the country chart … again

0

Carrie Underwood is once again charging up the country singles chart with “Good Girl.”

The song moved up from number 10 to number 8 on the Billboard country singles chart this week.

And it’s accomplished that feat in just seven weeks.

In contrast, every song in front of “Good Girl” on the chart has been out at least 13 weeks.

Of course, the top of the charts is familiar territory for Idol’s Season 4 champ.

She has 11 number one country singles to her credit; three more songs off her albums peaked at number two on the country chart.

For those who might have missed the video, I’ve embedded it below.

Carrie plays the role of both the good girl getting advice and the … shall, we say, more wordly girl dispensing the advice.

By my count, Carrie also changes outfits seven times in the video.

For those who like Carrie trivia, it’s hardly a record. She’s seen in 12 different outfits in the first 15 seconds of “All-American Girl,” in which she dresses up as everything from a cheerleader to an astronaut.

Before we get to the video, here are the other chart highlights from this week:

* Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” is still number one on the adult pop chart, from slipped from the top spot to number two among radio songs and number three among pop songs. Her album by the same name is back up to number 12 on the Billboard 200.

* After his appearance on the Academy of Country Music awards and Idol, Scotty McCreery saw his “Clear As Day” CD jump back to number three on the country albums chart. It’s still in the top 10, dropping to number seven this week.

* Three weeks after it’s release, Casey James’ debut album is number 24 on the country chart and number 129 on the Billboard 200. It was 15 and 78, respectively, a week ago.

* And Adam Lambert’s lead single off his upcoming album has shown up on the adult pop chart. “Better Than I Know Myself” was number 20 last week. This week, it’s number 19.

Now, “Good Girl,” followed by the complete chart rundown.
