Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood will have a chance to continue those winning ways at the 2015 Grammys in January.
Carrie landed a pair of nominations earlier this month, including for best country solo performance for “Something in the Water,” the new single from her just-released greatest hits album.
Also up for that award are Eric Church of “Give Me Back My Hometown,” Hunter Hayes for “Invisible,” Miranda Lambert for “Automatic” and Keith Urban for “Cop Car.”
Carrie’s other nomination comes in the best country duo/group performance category and is for her “Somethin’ Bad” duet with Miranda from the latter’s “Platinum” album.
Also up for the honor are The Band Perry for “Gentle on My Mind,” Little Big Town for “Day Drinking,” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill for “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” and Keith Urban and Eric Church for “Raise ‘Em Up.”
And while we’re talking about country nominees, a former Voice contestant also landed one, as a songwriter, not a performer.
Nicolle Galyon has co-writes on several of the best songs on Miranda Lambert’s “Platinum” album, including “Automatic,” which is nominated for country song of the year. Nicolle also co-wrote the wonderful title track to “Platinum,” which is also up for country album of the year honors.
Jennifer’s nomination comes in the Best R&B Performance category for her song “It’s Your World,” featuring R. Kelly. Other nominees: Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” Ledisi’s “Like This,” Usher’s “Good Kisser” and Chris Brown’s “New Flame,” which also features Usher and Rick Ross.
Among the other nominees is Voice coach Pharrell Williams, who’s album “Girl” is nominated for album of the year. He’s also nominated for best pop solo performance for his hit song “Happy.”
