The night’s biggest award — artist of the year — went to One Direction for the second year in a row.

Carrie Underwood took fan-voted honors as favorite female country artist. Also nominated for the honor were Miranda Lambert and Kelsea Ballerini.

Carrie, who also performed on the show, won the category for the third time. She also won in 2007 and 2014; Taylor Swift won every year in between.

Nicki took the award for favorite hip-hop/rap album with “The PinkPrint.” She also won the award in 2011 for “Pink Friday” and 2012 for “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.”

She also won for favorite hip-hop/rap artist over other nominees Drake and Fetty Wap. It was also her third win in that category.

Nicki was also nominated in the artist of the year category. Other nominees, other than winning One Direction, were Ariana Grande, Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift.

Maroon 5 was nominated as favorite pop/rock band or duo, but the award went to One Direction.

American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez served as host for the show, which also included a tribute to Paris courtesy of a performance by Celine Dion.
