Chris told Parade he wrote the song in reaction to his experience with obsessive compulsive disorder.
“I’m a worrier by nature and specifically struggle with OCD,” said the 25-year-old, who finished third on Season 7.
“At times, certain thoughts or memories will get stuck in my head and I can become a prisoner of my own mind, unable to let specific thoughts or memories escape me.”
“Go” is a reminder to fight back against those thoughts and trust himself.
Like Chris’ last release, his website indicates a portion of the proceeds of downloads of “Go” will go to the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, the scene of a mass shooting in October.
You can also head there to check out Chris’ upcoming performance dates.
