Turns out that was true; David has since come out as gay.
He’s also released a fine new single, “Beautiful,” and an accompanying video.
The video is a celebration of love in all of its many forms.
“If you’re missing a leg, you’re still beautiful,” David told Out.com. “If you’re overweight, you’re still beautiful. If you are 75 years old, you’re still beautiful.
“That’s why this song resonates with me. The lyrics are just so powerful. This is who I am, take it or leave it.”
David’s released quite a bit of music since Idol, including an eight-track EP called “I Am Who I Am” in 2011 and a dance single called “Wtf” last year.
