New post-Voice music out recently include songs from Cassadee Pope, Suzanna Choffel, Anders Drerup and Steve Knill.
Cassadee has released the next two songs from her upcoming album. Anders and Steve each released a pair of songs too while Suzanna’s single marked her first in more than a year.
Here’s a bit about each of those releases. The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. Or you can check out the Spotify snippets below.
Cassadee Pope, winner of Season 3, released two more tracks this week from her upcoming acoustic album, “Rise and Shine.” The new songs are “Hoodie” and “Counting on the Weather.” She also released a lyric video for “Hoodie,” a song about finding a piece of an ex’s clothing. “My goal for this song is to make people smile and also just to really focus on how hilarious the lyric is about trying to be subtle in getting back in touch with somebody that you’ve wanted to talk to for a long time, but not being subtle at all,” Cassadee told Sounds Like Nashville. “Rise and Shine” is due out Aug. 7.
Suzanna Choffel from Season 3 delivers a political message in her new song, “Good Problems.” According to her Bandcamp page, she penned the song after “going through ridiculous hoops with health insurance after her first daughter was born. She could not believe what a racket the whole thing was and it angered her every time she saw older wealthier white male politicians constantly making decisions about the American people’s affordable access to healthcare, especially women’s healthcare.” She’s donating half the proceeds from Bandcamp sales to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Anders Drerup from Season 18 has already released four single since the show. The latest are “Sad Songs” and “Both Be Right.” The latter delivers a timely message of individuals with different viewpoints finding common ground and building one another up instead of tearing one another down.
Steve Knill from Season 17 has dropped a pair of songs this month. The first was his cover of Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’.” He’s also posted an accompanying music video, his first ever, which he co-directed with Chris Wynn. More recently, he released — or rather re-released — an original called “Falling in Love.” He writes that it’s a new version of “the first song I ever wrote, mixed, produced, recorded and performed.”
