After The Voice

Check out the new video from Pa.-bound Hailey Steele

singer Hailey Steele from Season 2 of The Voice has released a new video.

It’s for her single “Where I Thought I’d Be” and it premiered on CMT last month.

In fact, it hit number seven on the CMT Pack 12 countdown a week ago. And now Hailey’s posted the video on YouTube.

The song stems from her efforts to break out as a female country artist in Nashville, certainly no easy task.

But there’s also a glimmer of hope in the song, as Hailey sings “I’ve got faith it’ll all work out / I’m just not where I thought’s I’d be right now.”

Hailey wrote the song with Jay Clementi and while she’s released other music since appearing on The Voice — including an EP in late 2014 — you might be more familiar with her work as a songwriter.

She was a co-writer on “Boyfriend,” recorded by RaeLynn and “Fight Like a Girl,” which has gotten a good deal of attention for upcoming country singer Kalie Shorr.

As for The Voice, Hailey appeared on Season 2 as part of the country duo, The Line. Of course, she’s since gone solo.

If you’d like to hear Hailey live, she has two shows planned for later this summer in Pennsylvania. She’ll be performing at the Rusty Rail in Mifflinburg on Friday, July 1, and at the Sellersville Theater the next night. She’ll be opening for Stephen Kellogg at both shows.

You can follow Hailey through her Facebook page. On Twitter, she’s @hailey_steele.
