After The Voice

Chris Mann launches Pledge Music campaign to fund new album

Chris MannChris Mann is well on the way to funding a second post-Voice album with the help of Pledge Music.

Chris, a Season 2 finalist on the show, launched a Pledge Music campaign Sept. 2.

Just one week later — and with more than 50 days left in the campaign — he’s already reached 70 percent of his fund-raising goal.

Pretty impressive, huh?

Chris finished fourth on Season 2 behind Jermaine Paul, Juliet Simms and Tony Lucca, but one could argue he’s been the most successful of the quartet since his stint on the show.

He released a well-received debut album called “Roads” about three years ago. He’s currently playing the lead role of the Phantom on a national tour of Phantom of the Opera (which, by the way, lands in Baltimore early next year).

“Roads” consisted mostly of covers, from the country mega-hit “Need You Now” to a duet of “Blower’s Daughter” with his Voice coach Christina Aguilera to “Ave Maria.”

From his Pledge Music pitch, it sounds like Chris will be taking a different approach this time around.

“I want to follow up ‘Roads’ with an album of the original music you’ve been asking for for years,” he tells fans in his Pledge video.

Well, there will be at least one exception. He says the album will also include a “very special new recording” of “Music of the Night” from Phantom.

Chris already released one original this year, a catchy pop single called “L.O.V.E.” I’ve embedded the video below.
